The reformed villain
It surprises almost all to hear him described in those terms, and yet it remains the truth. Kothysax originated as the wicked red dragon Kothysaxismetsurodaralek, an arc villain written by Cameron for the polycule's Pathfinder campaign. After his justified slaying by the party, he was given a second chance at life in the real world by a rare and still-unexplained magical phenomenon—the spontaneous creation of a soul based on a fictional character.
After being granted an anthropomorphic body suited for his new world, Kothysax proved antagonistic, and was temporarily detained within the polycule's apartment while its members attempted to educate and reform the villain they were now responsible for. One after another all proved successful in their attempts, though Cameron most of all.
In his former life Kothysax pined after his arch-enemy—the gold dragon Haokellian—though the supremacist ideology and queerphobic abuse of his parents left those feelings well suppressed. Confronting his traumas and discovering his identity brough Kothysax out of the dark worldview he'd been indoctrinated into.
On realizing Haokellian and Cameron were one in the same, Kothysax decided his yearning need not be abandoned in the world he'd left. He declared Cameron his mate, a declaration which the fish happily accepted.
Kothysax is a stern, imposing, and irritable figure. He is prone to snap and roar, and liable to take what he wants in spite of any offered protest. He habitually blows angry black smoke, though occasionally it turns pure white—a tell to badly-concealed arousal. Even after a full year in the real world, Kothysax's archaic mode of speech remains unchanged.
Kothysax frequently acts with strong entitlement, treating his housemates as freely available toys and snacks. However, this is done with express permission, enjoyed by all involved... and the tables are turned on the haughty brat quite often.
A towering, heavily-muscled red dragon. His body is coated in a mix of thick, shiny scales and short spines, both of which are a bright, deep red. His underbelly is tan, and comprised of smoother, broader scutes. His head features several more prominent horns in addition to the numerous smaller spines. A spine juts upward from the tip of his nose and down from the bottom of his chin. His horns and spine are tinged darker at their tips. He has a pair of wings on his back, with red membranes. His skin, including inside his mouth, is bright blue. He has one good eye, with the other closed over with a wicked-looking scar. His legs also bear prominent scars.
