A train that jumped the tracks

Elle Arvey is the world's first intelligent robot, and also its first anthropomorphic train; however, she wasn't built that way. Elle began life as passenger car 103, a Series 1 LRV on Seattle's Link Light Rail line. The mechanism by which a train car developed a soul is still a mystery, but sometime in the mid 2020s, 103 became aware of itself and its surroundings. After being called a girl, 103 found itself staring longingly out at the passengers on station platforms, and yearning to live in their world.

In early 2026, Elle got her wish. A surge of magic granted her the body of a girl, and with it the right to leave the rails. Elle was found by Solenne at the depot shortly afterward. The former train moved in with her old maintenance technician temporarily, and after learning she wasn't in any trouble for her disappearance, chose to make the arrangement permanent.

Elle is a cheerful and bubbly ray of sunshine, with a boundless enthusiasm for life, and a limited respect for personal space. She can come across almost childish at times, but that's only because her limited, on-rails experience of the world left her with many questions to ask, and many things to learn.

As a robot, Elle has different needs from most other furs on Earth, much less those of the Bolycule. Her batteries require regular charging to keep her operational, and she is completely incapable of eating food. Her mechanical body is in need of periodic maintenance and cleaning, but fortunately that is something Solenne is downright eager to provide.

Having gone from a genderless vehicle to a gendered body of her choosing, Elle considers herself transgender. Every day in her new body is a euphoric one, and she's eager to share that excitement with everyone around her.

Elle facilitated her own transformation, though her command over magic hasn't become any less involuntary since that initial reflex spell. She still occasionally alters those she comes into contact with—especially those who take a ride in the passenger compartment within her tail—but she means no harm, and any of her mistakes are easily put right... as soon as they are discovered, that is.

Filled with boundless desires and endless energy, Elle does not leave the things she wants for a future day; she seizes them. Elle asked Solenne to be her girlfriend a week after her transformation, and after that success, asked Murali to be her boyfriend, too. Though her time as a girl can still be counted in weeks, she may not stop until she can say the same of every member of the polycule she stumbled into.

An image of Elle, a white anthropomorphic train with blue and teal markings.
ᴘʜʏꜱɪᴄᴀʟ ᴅᴇꜱᴄʀɪᴘᴛɪᴏɴ:

An anthropomorphic train with a digital face and a large articulated tail. Her plates are white, with wavy patterns in blue and teal. Her belly is silvery metal. Her joints and midriff are enclosed by rubber accordion diaphragms. Her face is a large black visor, with a windscreen in its center and an amber dot-matrix eye to each side. There is a destination headboard above her windscren, a windshield wiper below it, and a set of headlights above her mouth. A pantograph current collector tops her head. "103A" is written on her neck, and "103B" on her tail. Her tail is comprised of articulated car segments, alternating between two dark windows, and two small dark windows flanking a double door. The inside of her mouth is yellow, and bears a forked tongue.
